1. मरकंडू ऋषि के पुत्र मारकण्डेय ने लंबी आयु के लिए सावन माह में ही घोर तप कर शिव की कृपा प्राप्त की थी, जिससे मिली मंत्र शक्तियों के सामने मृत्यु के देवता यमराज भी नतमस्तक हो गए थे।

 2. भगवान शिव को सावन का महीना प्रिय होने का अन्य कारण यह भी है कि भगवान शिव सावन के महीने में पृथ्वी पर अवतरित होकर अपनी ससुराल गए थे और वहां उनका स्वागत अर्घ्य और जलाभिषेक से किया गया था। माना जाता है कि प्रत्येक वर्ष सावन माह में भगवान शिव अपनी ससुराल आते हैं। भू-लोक वासियों के लिए शिव कृपा पाने का यह उत्तम समय होता है।

3. पौराणिक कथाओं में वर्णन आता है कि इसी सावन मास में समुद्र मंथन किया गया था। समुद्र मथने के बाद जो हलाहल विष निकला, उसे भगवान शंकर ने कंठ में समाहित कर सृष्टि की रक्षा की; लेकिन विषपान से महादेव का कंठ नीलवर्ण हो गया। इसी से उनका नाम 'नीलकंठ महादेव' पड़ा। विष के प्रभाव को कम करने के लिए सभी देवी-देवताओं ने उन्हें जल अर्पित किया। इसलिए शिवलिंग पर जल चढ़ाने का ख़ास महत्व है। यही वजह है कि श्रावण मास में भोले को जल चढ़ाने से विशेष फल की प्राप्ति होती है। 

4. 'शिवपुराण' में उल्लेख है कि भगवान शिव स्वयं ही जल हैं। इसलिए जल से उनकी अभिषेक के रूप में अराधना का उत्तमोत्तम फल है, जिसमें कोई संशय नहीं है।

 5. शास्त्रों में वर्णित है कि सावन महीने में भगवान विष्णु योगनिद्रा में चले जाते हैं। इसलिए ये समय भक्तों, साधु-संतों सभी के लिए अमूल्य होता है। यह चार महीनों में होने वाला एक वैदिक यज्ञ है, जो एक प्रकार का पौराणिक व्रत है, जिसे 'चौमासा' भी कहा जाता है; तत्पश्चात सृष्टि के संचालन का उत्तरदायित्व भगवान शिव ग्रहण करते हैं। इसलिए सावन के प्रधान देवता भगवान शिव बन जाते हैं।

19 साल बाद सावन में 8 सोमवार, क्या है यह दुर्लभ संयोग .

पंचांग के अनुसार सावन का महीना 3 जुलाई की शाम 5 बजे शुरू हो रहा है. लेकिन हिंदू धर्म में उदयातिथि की मान्याता है. ऐसे में सावन की शुरुआत 4 जुलाई से मानी जा रही है.

इस साल सावन 59 दिनों तक रहनेवाला है. ऐसा खास संयोग 19 वर्ष बाद बन रहा है. आज से 19 साल पहले सावन माह में मलमास लगा था. इस बार सावन महीना 4 जुलाई से शुरू होकर 31 अगस्त तक रहनेवाला है. इस बीच 18 जुलाई से 16 अगस्त तक मलमास रहने वाला है.

सावन में सोमवार की पूजा का खास महत्व है. इस बार सावन में कुल 8 सोमवार पड़ रहे हैं. पहला सोमवार 10 जुलाई को पड़ेगा. वहीं, 17, 25 व 31 जुलाई को सोमवार पड़ रहा है. इसके अलावा 7, 14, 21 व 28 अगस्त को भी सोमवार पड़ने वाला है. सोमवार का व्रत रखने वाले कम से कम 5 सोमवारी जरूर करें

सावन के महीने में भगवान भोलेनाथ के पर जलाभिषेक करने की परंपरा है. धार्मिक शास्त्र के अनुसार जो लोग सावन के महीने में भगवान शिव पर जलाभिषेक करते हैं उनकी हर मनोकामनाएं पूर्ण होती है. वहीं ज्योतिषशास्त्र कहता है कि जलाभिषेक करने वक़्त दिशा का ध्यान रखना बेहद जरूरी है. ज़ब भी श्रद्धालु जलाभिषेक करें तो उत्तर दिशा की ओर मुख रखें. इससे पूजा सफल मानी जाएगी.

भोलेनाथ का आशीर्वाद तो सावन के हर सोमवार करें ये उपाय

सावन सोमवार उपाय

ज्योतिष शास्त्र के अनुसार सावन के सोमवार का व्रत रखने के अलावा शिवलिंग पर जलाभिषेक को बहुत महत्व दिया गया है। साथ ही प्रत्येक सोमवार को गाय को पालक खिलाने और गरीबों को भोजन तथा वस्त्रों का दान बहुत शुभ माना जाता है।

सावन सोमवार के दिन सुबह स्नान आदि से निवृत होकर गंगाजल, चीनी, चावल और कच्चे दूध के मिश्रण वाला जल भगवान भोलेनाथ को अर्पित करें। मान्यता है कि सावन के हर सोमवार इस तरह से भोलेनाथ का अभिषेक करने से व्यापार, नौकरी और वैवाहिक जीवन में आ रही बाधाएं दूर होती हैं।

भोलेनाथ की पूजा में बेलपत्र बहुत शुभ माना जाता है ऐसे में सावन के सोमवार के दिन बेलपत्र पर चंदन से ओम नमः शिवाय लिखें और फिर इस महादेव को अर्पित कर दें।

ज्योतिष के जानकारों के मुताबिक आक का फूल भोलेनाथ हो बेहद प्रिय होता है। ऐसे में मनोकामना की पूर्ति के लिए आक के फूल की माला बनाकर भोलेनाथ को अर्पित करने से वे प्रसन्न होते हैं और मनोवांछित फल देते हैं।

1. Markandeya, the son of Markandu Rishi, had attained the blessings of Shiva by performing severe penance for a long life in the month of Sawan itself, from which even the god of death Yamraj bowed down in front of the mantra powers.

2. Another reason for Lord Shiva's love for the month of Savan is that Lord Shiva incarnated on earth and went to his in-laws' house in the month of Savan and was welcomed there with Arghya and Jalabhishek.  It is believed that Lord Shiva visits his in-laws house every year in the month of Sawan.  This is the best time for the residents of the land to get the blessings of Shiva.

3. There is a description in mythology that the ocean was churned in this month of Sawan.  Lord Shankar protected the universe by absorbing the halal poison that came out after churning the ocean;  But Mahadev's throat turned blue due to poisoning.  This is why he got the name 'Neelkanth Mahadev'.  To reduce the effect of poison, all the gods and goddesses offered him water.  That's why offering water on Shivling has special significance.  This is the reason why offering water to Bhole in the month of Shravan gives special results.

4. It is mentioned in 'Shivpuran' that Lord Shiva himself is water.  That's why worshiping him with water is the best fruit of worship, in which there is no doubt.

5. It is described in the scriptures that Lord Vishnu goes into Yognidra in the month of Sawan.  That's why this time is invaluable for all the devotees, sages and saints.  It is a Vedic Yajna that takes place over four months, a type of Puranic fast, also known as 'Chaumasa';  After that Lord Shiva assumes the responsibility of running the universe.  That's why Lord Shiva becomes the presiding deity of Sawan.

8 Mondays in Sawan after 19 years, what is this rare coincidence.

According to the Panchang, the month of Sawan is starting at 5 pm on July 3.  But Udayatithi is recognized in Hinduism.  In such a situation, the beginning of Sawan is being considered from 4th July.

This year Sawan is going to last for 59 days.  Such a special coincidence is happening after 19 years.  19 years ago, Malamas was held in the month of Sawan.  This time the month of Sawan is going to start from 4th July and last till 31st August.  Meanwhile, Malmas is going to remain from 18 July to 16 August.

Monday's worship has special significance in Sawan.  This time a total of 8 Mondays are falling in Sawan.  The first Monday will fall on 10 July.  Whereas, Monday is falling on 17, 25 and 31 July.  Apart from this, Monday is also going to fall on 7, 14, 21 and 28 August.  Those who fast on Monday must do at least 5 Mondays

There is a tradition of performing Jalabhishek on Lord Bholenath in the month of Sawan.  According to religious scriptures, all the wishes of those who perform Jalabhishek on Lord Shiva in the month of Sawan are fulfilled.  At the same time, astrology says that it is very important to take care of the direction while performing Jalabhishek.  Whenever devotees perform Jalabhishek, they should keep their face towards north.  With this the worship will be considered successful.

Belpatra is considered very auspicious in the worship of Bholenath, so write Om Namah Shivay with sandalwood on Belpatra on Monday of Sawan and then offer it to Mahadev.
