4 stories of Shri Ganesh
First story :-
According to the mythological and popular Shri Ganesh Katha, once the deity was surrounded by many calamities. Then he came to Lord Shiva seeking help. At that time Kartikeya and Ganesha were also sitting with Shiva. After listening to the deities, Shiva asked Kartikeya and Ganesh ji, who among you can remove the sufferings of the gods. Then both Kartikeya and Ganesh ji declared themselves capable for this task.
On this, Lord Shiva took the test of both of them and said that the first of you two who come round the earth, he will go to help the gods.
On hearing this word from the mouth of Lord Shiva, Kartikeya went out to circumambulate the earth by sitting on his vehicle peacock, but Ganesh ji got into the thought that if he would climb the mouse and circumambulate the whole earth, it would take him a lot of time. . Then he got a solution. Ganesha got up from his place and sat back after circumambulating his parents seven times. On returning after circumambulating, Kartikeya started calling himself the winner. Then Shiva asked Lord Ganesha the reason for not circumambulating the earth.
Then Ganesha said - 'All the worlds are at the feet of the parents.' Hearing this, Lord Shiva ordered Ganesha to remove the troubles of the gods. Thus Lord Shiva blessed Ganesha that the one who worships you on the day of Chaturthi and offers Arghya to the moon in the night, his three heats i.e. physical heat, divine heat and material heat will be removed. By observing this fast, all kinds of miseries of the fasting person will be removed and he will get material pleasures of life. Human happiness and prosperity will increase from all sides. There will be no dearth of sons and grandsons, wealth and opulence.
Second Story of Ganesh Chaturthi Vrat :-
Once upon a time there was a potter in the kingdom of King Harishchandra. He made pottery, but they were left raw. To overcome this problem, on the advice of a priest, he put a small child in a bowl with earthen pots.
That day was Sankashti Chaturthi. The mother of that child was worried for her son. He prayed to Ganesha for his son's well being.
On the next day, when the potter woke up in the morning and saw that his utensils were cooked in the water, but the child's hair was not even hairy. He got scared and went to the king's court and told the whole incident.
After this, the king called the child and his mother, then the mother described Sankashti Chaturthi, which removes all kinds of obstacles. After this incident, women started observing Sankat Chauth fast for the good fortune of children and family.
Third story:
Once upon a time, the marriage of Lord Vishnu was fixed with Lakshmi. The wedding preparations started. Invitations were sent to all the deities, but Ganesh ji was not invited, whatever the reason. Now the time has come to go to Lord Vishnu's procession. All the deities along with their wives came to the marriage ceremony. They all saw that Ganeshji was nowhere to be seen. Then they started discussing among themselves whether Ganesha is not invited? Or has Ganesha himself not come? Everyone was surprised at this. Then everyone thought that the reason for this should be asked from Lord Vishnu.
On asking Lord Vishnu, he said that we have sent an invitation to Lord Ganesha's father Bholenath Mahadev. If Ganeshji wanted to come with his father, he would have come, there was no need to invite him separately. The second thing is that they need half a mind of moong, half a mind of rice, half a mind of ghee and half a mind of laddoos throughout the day. It doesn't matter if Ganeshji doesn't come. It doesn't feel good to go to someone else's house to eat and drink so much.
They were talking so much that one of them suggested - even if Ganesh ji comes, he will make him sit as a gatekeeper, that you should remember the house. If you sit on a mouse and walk slowly, you will be left far behind the procession. Everyone liked this suggestion, so Lord Vishnu also gave his consent.
What was to happen that in such a situation, Ganesh ji came there and after persuading him, made him sit to guard the house. The procession went on, then Narad ji saw that Ganesh ji was sitting at the door, so he went to Ganesh ji and asked the reason for his stay. Ganesh ji started saying that Lord Vishnu has insulted me a lot. Narad ji said that if you send your mouse army forward, then it will dig a path through which their vehicles will get into the earth, then you will have to call respectfully.
Now Ganesh ji quickly sent his mouse army forward and the army polled the land. When the procession left from there, the wheels of the chariots sank into the earth. Try a million, but the wheels do not come off. Everyone took their own measures, but the wheels did not come out, but broke from place to place. No one knew what to do now.
Then Narad ji said - You people did not do any good by insulting Ganesh ji. If they are persuaded and brought, then your work can be proved and this crisis can be averted. Lord Shankar sent his messenger Nandi and he brought Ganesh ji. Worshiped Ganesh ji with respect, then somewhere the wheels of the chariot came out. Now the wheels of the chariot have gone out, but they are broken, so who will repair them?
Khati was working in a nearby field, he was called. Before doing his work, saying 'Shri Ganeshay Namah', started worshiping Ganesha in his mind. Soon Khati fixed all the wheels.
Then Khati started saying that O Gods! You must not have celebrated or worshiped Ganesha in the first place, that is why this crisis has come with you. We are ignorant fools, yet we worship Lord Ganesha first and meditate on him. You people are gods, yet how did you forget Ganesh ji? Now if you go by chanting the jai of Lord Shri Ganesh ji, then all your work will be done and there will be no trouble. Saying this the procession left from there and after solemnizing the marriage of Lord Vishnu with Lakshmi ji, all returned home safely. Oh Lord Ganesha! You have proved Vishnu as Karaj Saariyo, such Karaj prove to everyone. Say Glory to God Gajanan.
Fourth story:-
According to the legend of Shri Ganesh Chaturthi fasting, once Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati were sitting on the banks of river Narmada. There Mata Parvati asked Lord Shiva to play Chaupad to pass the time. Shiva agreed to play Chaupar, but the question arose in front of him, who would decide whether to win or lose in this game, Lord Shiva collected some straws and made an effigy of it and honored him and said to the effigy- ' Son, we want to play quadruped, but there is no one to decide our victory or defeat, so you tell us who lost and who won?'
After that the chaupad game of Lord Shiva and Mata Parvati started. This game was played 3 times and incidentally all three times Mata Parvati won. After the game was over, the boy was asked to decide whether to win or lose, then the boy declared Mahadev as the winner.
Upon hearing this, Mother Parvati became angry and in anger she cursed the child to be lame, lying in the mud. The child apologized to Mother Parvati and said that this has happened to me out of ignorance, I did not do this out of any malice.
When the child asked for forgiveness, the mother said- 'Nag girls will come here for Ganesh worship, according to them, you fast on Ganesha, by doing this you will get me.' Saying this Mata Parvati went to Mount Kailash with Shiva.
After a year, the snake girls came to that place, then after knowing the method of fasting of Shri Ganesha from the snake girls, that child fasted for 21 days continuously. Lord Ganesha was pleased with his reverence. He asked the boy to ask for the desired fruit. On that the boy said- 'O Vinayak! Give me so much strength that I can walk on my feet and reach Mount Kailash with my parents and they will be happy to see this.'
Then Lord Ganesha disappeared after giving a boon to the child. After this the boy reached Mount Kailash and narrated his story of reaching Mount Kailash to Lord Shiva. From the day of Chaupar, Mother Parvati had turned away from Shiva, so Lord Shiva also fasted for 21 days as per the instructions of the child. Due to the effect of this fast, the resentment that Mata Parvati had for Lord Shiva ended.
Then Lord Shankar told this fasting method to Mother Parvati. Hearing this, the desire of Mother Parvati to meet her son Kartikeya also awakened in her mind. Then Mata Parvati also fasted for 21 days to Shri Ganesha and worshiped Ganesha with Durva, flowers and laddoos. On the 21st day of the fast, Kartikeya himself met Mata Parvati. From that day onwards, this fast of Shri Ganesh Chaturthi is considered to fulfill all the wishes. By observing this fast, all the sufferings of a human being are removed and a person gets all the comforts.
