ज्योतिष शास्त्र  के अनुसार ब्रेकअप का कारण मुख्य रूप से तीन ग्रह  सूर्य , मंगल और शनि होते हैं। इन तीनों ग्रहों के कारण लड़का और लड़की में ब्रेकअप होता है। इन तीनों ग्रहों मेंं से कोई भी एक ग्रह उच्च राशि में होकर पंचम या सप्तम भाव को देखता है, तो प्रेम विच्छेद यानि संबंध टूटने का योग बनता है। यह भी कहा जाता है कि अगर किसी की कुंडली में सूर्य, मंगल और शनि के अलावा पांचवें और सातवें घर के स्वामी ग्रह पर इन तीनों में से किसी एक की दृष्टि भी पड़ रही हो तो भी प्रेम में ब्रेकअप का योग बनता है।
