वास्तु शास्त्र में घर की हर दिशा का अपना महत्व है। घर में रखी कोई भी वस्तु तभी शुभ फल देती है जब उसे सही दिशा या सही जगह पर रखा जाए। वास्तु के अनुसार घर का इंटीरियर दिशा के अनुसार होना चाहिए। जानकारों का मानना है कि उत्तर दिशा के स्वामी कुबेर देवता हैं। इसलिए इस दिशा में कुछ विशेष ध्यान देने की जरूरत है। वास्तु के अनुसार घर की उत्तर दिशा दोषों से मुक्त होनी चाहिए। ऐसा होने पर घर धन-धान्य से भरा रहता है। वहीं इसके विपरीत यदि घर वास्तु के अनुसार नहीं बना हो मतलब घर की हर चीज की दिशा वास्तु के अनुसार नहीं हो तो घर में बेवजह क्लेश होता है और दरिद्रता  छा जाती है, जिससे मां लक्ष्मी रूठ कर चलीं जातीं हैं। वास्तु शास्त्र के अनुसार उत्तर दिशा को धन के देवता कुबेर की दिशा माना जाता है। आइए जानते हैं इस दिशा में क्या रखना चाहिए, ताकि धन के देवता कुबेर की विशेष कृपा बनी रहे। 

हालांकि, घर का मुख भले ही उत्तर दिशा में हो लेकिन इसमें वास्तु के नियमों का पालन नहीं किया जाए तो उत्तरमुखी घर में रहने वाले व्यक्तियों को कष्ट का सामना भी करना पड़ता है. वास्तु  के अनुसार उत्तरमुखी घर में मुख्यद्वार पूर्व की बजाय पश्चिम दिशा की ओर होने से घर के लोग अधिक समय तक टिक नहीं पाते. ऐसे घर के मुखिया को पैसा कमाने के लिए ज्यादातर समय घर से बाहर रहना पड़ता है.

वास्तु विशेषज्ञों के अनुसार मूर्तियों को इस तरह रखा जाना चाहिए कि वे एक-दूसरे के सामने न हों। वास्तु शास्त्र की सलाह है कि कुबेर की मूर्ति को दक्षिण दिशा में रखना चाहिए।

सोने, पीतल, चांदी से बनी कुबेर की मूर्ति को आप उत्तर दिशा में रख सकते हैं। प्लास्टर ऑफ पेरिस, मिट्टी, मिट्टी या अन्य टूटने योग्य सामग्री से बनी वास्तु कुबेर की मूर्ति न लगाएं। आदर्श रूप से, आपको कांस्य की मूर्ति मिलनी चाहिए।
