एकादशी का अर्थ एवं महत्व

हिंदू पञ्चाङ्ग की ग्यारहवीं तिथि को एकादशी कहते हैं। यह तिथि मास में दो बार आती है। एक पूर्णिमा होने पर और

दूसरी अमावस्या होने पर। पूर्णिमा से आगे आने वाली एकादशी को कृष्ण पक्ष की एकादशी और अमावस्या के उपरान्त आने वाली एकादशी को शुक्ल पक्ष की एकादशी कहते हैं। इन दोनों प्रकार की एकादशियोँ का हिन्दू धर्म में बहुत महत्त्व है।

26 एकादशी और 26 फायदे, व्रत करेंगे तो जीवनभर सुखी व धनवान बने रहेंगे

माह में 2 एकादशियां होती हैं अर्थात आपको माह में बस 2 बार और वर्ष के 365 दिनों में मात्र 24 बार ही नियमपूर्वक एकादशी व्रत रखना है। हालांकि प्रत्येक तीसरे वर्ष अधिकमास होने से 2 एकादशियां जुड़कर ये कुल 26 होती हैं।

 

-पुराणों के अनुसार जो व्यक्ति एकादशी करता रहता है, वह जीवन में कभी भी संकटों से नहीं घिरता और उसके जीवन में धन और समृद्धि बनी रहती है।

 -इस एकादशी व्रत के करने के 26 फायदे हैं- 

व्यक्ति निरोगी रहता है, राक्षस, भूत-पिशाच आदि योनि से छुटकारा मिलता है, पापों का नाश होता है, संकटों से मुक्ति मिलती है, सर्वकार्य सिद्ध होते हैं, सौभाग्य प्राप्त होता है, मोक्ष मिलता है, विवाह बाधा समाप्त होती है, धन और समृद्धि आती है, शांति मिलती है, मोह-माया और बंधनों से मुक्ति मिलती है, हर प्रकार के मनोरथ पूर्ण होते हैं, खुशियां मिलती हैं, सिद्धि प्राप्त होती है, उपद्रव शांत होते हैं, दरिद्रता दूर होती है, खोया हुआ सबकुछ फिर से प्राप्त हो जाता है, पितरों को अधोगति से मुक्ति मिलती है, भाग्य जाग्रत होता है, ऐश्वर्य की प्राप्ति होती है, पुत्र प्राप्ति होती है, शत्रुओं का नाश होता है, सभी रोगों का नाश होता है, कीर्ति और प्रसिद्धि प्राप्त होती है, वाजपेय और अश्‍वमेध यज्ञ का फल मिलता है और हर कार्य में सफलता मिलती है।

आओ अब जानते हैं कि किस माह में आती है कौन-सी एकादशी?

 -चैत्र माह में कामदा और पापमोचिनी एकादशी आती है। कामदा से राक्षस आदि की योनि से छुटकारा मिलता है और यह सर्वकार्य सिद्धि करती है तो पापमोचिनी एकादशी व्रत से पाप का नाश होता है और संकटों से मुक्ति मिलती है।

वैशाख में वरुथिनी और मोहिनी एकादशी आती है। वरुथिनी सौभाग्य देने, सब पापों को नष्ट करने तथा मोक्ष देने वाली है तो मोहिनी एकादशी विवाह, सुख-समृद्धि और शांति प्रदान करती है, साथ ही मोह-माया के बंधनों से मुक्त करती है।

ज्येष्ठ माह में अपरा और निर्जला एकादशी आती है। अपरा एकादशी व्रत से मनुष्य को अपार खुशियों की प्राप्ति होती है तथा समस्त पापों से मुक्ति मिलती है और निर्जला का अर्थ निराहार और निर्जल रहकर व्रत करना है। इसके करने से हर प्रकार की मनोरथ सिद्धि होती है।

आषाढ़ माह में योगिनी और देवशयनी एकादशी आती है। योगिनी एकादशी से समस्त पाप दूर हो जाते हैं और व्यक्ति पारिवारिक सुख पाता है। देवशयनी एकादशी का व्रत करने से सिद्धि प्राप्त होती है। यह व्रत सभी उपद्रवों को शांत कर सुखी बनाता है।

 

श्रावण माह में कामिका और पुत्रदा एकादशी आती है। कामिका एकादशी का व्रत सभी पापों से मुक्त कर जीव को कुयोनि को प्राप्त नहीं होने देता है। पुत्रदा एकादशी करने से संतान सुख प्राप्त होता है।

 -भाद्रपद में अजा और परिवर्तिनी एकादशी आती है। अजा एकादशी से पुत्र पर कोई संकट नहीं आता, दरिद्रता दूर हो जाती है, खोया हुआ सबकुछ पुन: प्राप्त हो जाता है। परिवर्तिनी एकादशी के व्रत से सभी दु:ख दूर होकर मुक्ति मिलती है।

 

-आश्‍विन माह में इंदिरा एवं पापांकुशा एकादशी आती है। पितरों को अधोगति से मुक्ति देने वाली इंदिरा एकादशी के व्रत से स्वर्ग की प्राप्ति होती है जबकि पापांकुशा एकादशी सभी पापों से मुक्त कर अपार धन, समृद्धि और सुख देती है।

 कार्तिक में रमा और प्रबोधिनी एकादशी आती है। रमा एकादशी व्रत करने से सभी सुख और ऐश्वर्य की प्राप्ति होती है। देवउठनी या प्रबोधिनी एकादशी का व्रत करने से भाग्य जाग्रत होता है। इस दिन तुलसी पूजा होती है।

 

-मार्गशीर्ष में उत्पन्ना और मोक्षदा एकादशी आती है। उत्पन्ना एकादशी व्रत करने से हजार वाजपेय और अश्‍वमेध यज्ञ का फल मिलता है। इससे देवता और पितर तृप्त होते हैं। मोक्षदा एकादशी मोक्ष देने वाली होती है।

 -पौष में सफला एवं पुत्रदा एकादशी आती है। सफला एकादशी सफल करने वाली होती है। सफला व्रत रखने से अश्वमेध यज्ञ का फल प्राप्त होता है। पुत्र की प्राप्ति के लिए पुत्रदा एकादशी का व्रत करना चाहिए।

 -माघ में षटतिला और जया एकादशी आती है। षटतिला एकादशी व्रत रखने से दुर्भाग्य, दरिद्रता तथा अनेक प्रकार के कष्ट दूर होकर मोक्ष की प्राप्ति होती है। जया एकादशी व्रत रखने से ब्रह्महत्यादि पापों से छुट व्यक्ति मोक्ष प्राप्त करता है तथा भूत-पिशाच आदि योनियों में नहीं जाता है।

 फाल्गुन में विजया और आमलकी एकादशी आती है। विजया एकादशी से भयंकर परेशानी से व्यक्ति छुटकारा पाता है और इससे श‍त्रुओं का नाश होता है। आमलकी एकादशी में आंवले का महत्व है। इसे करने से व्यक्ति सभी तरह के रोगों से मुक्त हो जाता है, साथ ही वह हर कार्य में सफल होता है।

 

-अधिकमास माह में पद्मिनी (कमला) एवं परमा एकादशी आती है। पद्मिनी एकादशी का व्रत सभी तरह की मनोकामनाओं को पूर्ण करता है, साथ ही यह पुत्र, कीर्ति और मोक्ष देने वाला है। परमा एकादशी धन-वैभव देती है तथा पापों का नाश कर उत्तम गति भी प्रदान करने वाली होती है।

सबसे बड़ी एकादशी कौन सी है?

निर्जला एकादशी एक हिंदू पवित्र दिन है जो हिंदू महीने ज्येष्ठ (मई / जून) के वैक्सिंग पखवाड़े के 11 वें चंद्र दिवस (एकादशी) को पड़ता है। इस एकादशी का नाम इस दिन किए गए निर्जला व्रत के कारण पड़ा है। इसे सबसे अधिक तपस्या माना जाता है और इसलिए सभी 24 एकादशियों में सबसे पवित्र माना जाता है।

  पापांकुशा एकादशी का महत्त्व:

अर्जुन कहने लगे कि हे जगदीश्वर! मैंने आश्विन कृष्ण एकादशी अर्थात इंदिरा एकादशी का सविस्तार वर्णन सुना। अब आप कृपा करके मुझे आश्विन/क्वार माह के शुक्ल पक्ष की एकादशी के विषय में भी बतलाइये। इस एकादशी का क्या नाम है तथा इसके व्रत का क्या विधान है? इसका व्रत करने से किस फल की प्राप्ति होती है? कृपया यह सब विधानपूर्वक कहिए।

भगवान श्रीकृष्ण ने कहा: हे कुंतीनंदन! आश्विन माह के शुक्ल पक्ष की एकादशी का नाम पापांकुशा एकादशी है। इसका व्रत करने से सभी पाप नष्ट हो जाते हैं तथा व्रत करने वाला अक्षय पुण्य का भागी होता है।

आश्विन शुक्ल एकादशी के दिन इच्छित फल की प्राप्ति के लिए भगवान विष्णु का पूजन करना चाहिए। इस पूजन के द्वारा मनुष्य को स्वर्ग लोक की प्राप्ति होती है। हे अर्जुन! जो मनुष्य कठिन तपस्याओं के द्वारा फल की प्राप्ति करते हैं, वह फल इस एकादशी के दिन क्षीर-सागर में शेषनाग पर शयन करने वाले भगवान विष्णु को नमस्कार कर देने से मिल जाता है और मनुष्य को यम के दुख नहीं भोगने पड़ते।

मनुष्य को पापों से बचने का दृढ़-संकल्प करना चाहिए। भगवान विष्णु का ध्यान-स्मरण किसी भी रूप में सुखदायक और पापनाशक है, परंतु पापांकुशा एकादशी के दिन प्रभु का स्मरण-कीर्तन सभी क्लेशों व पापों का शमन कर देता है।

पापांकुशा एकादशी व्रत कथा!

प्राचीन समय में विंध्य पर्वत पर क्रोधन नामक एक बहेलिया रहता था, वह बड़ा क्रूर था। उसका सारा जीवन हिंसा, लूटपाट, मद्यपान और गलत संगति पाप कर्मों में बीता।

जब उसका अंतिम समय आया तब यमराज के दूत बहेलिये को लेने आए और यमदूत ने बहेलिये से कहा कि कल तुम्हारे जीवन का अंतिम दिन है हम तुम्हें कल लेने आएंगे। यह बात सुनकर बहेलिया बहुत भयभीत हो गया और महर्षि अंगिरा के आश्रम में पहुंचा और महर्षि अंगिरा के चरणों पर गिरकर प्रार्थना करने लगा, हे ऋषिवर! मैंने जीवन भर पाप कर्म ही किए हैं।

कृपा कर मुझे कोई ऐसा उपाय बताएं, जिससे मेरे सारे पाप मिट जाएं और मोक्ष की प्राप्ति हो जाए। उसके निवेदन पर महर्षि अंगिरा ने उसे आश्विन शुक्ल की पापांकुशा एकादशी का विधि पूर्वक व्रत करके को कहा।

महर्षि अंगिरा के कहे अनुसार उस बहेलिए ने यह व्रत किया और किए गए सारे पापों से छुटकारा पा लिया और इस व्रत पूजन के बल से भगवान की कृपा से वह विष्णु लोक को गया। जब यमराज के यमदूत ने इस चमत्कार को देखा तो वह बहेलिया को बिना लिए ही यमलोक वापस लौट गए।

Meaning and Significance of Ekadashi

 There are 26 benefits of observing this Ekadashi fast-

 Varuthini and Mohini Ekadashi fall in Vaishakh.  Varuthini is the one who gives good fortune, destroys all sins and gives salvation, while Mohini Ekadashi bestows marriage, happiness-prosperity and peace, as well as frees one from the shackles of delusion and delusion.

 Apara and Nirjala Ekadashi come in Jyeshtha month.  Apara Ekadashi fasting brings immense happiness and freedom from all sins and Nirjala means fasting without being waterless.  By doing this all kinds of desires are fulfilled.

 Yogini and Devshayani Ekadashi come in the month of Ashadha.  Yogini Ekadashi removes all sins and one gets family happiness.  Siddhi is attained by observing the fast of Devshayani Ekadashi.  This fast pacifies all the troubles and makes them happy.

 Kamika and Putrada Ekadashi come in the month of Shravan.  The fast of Kamika Ekadashi does not allow the soul to attain Kuyoni, freeing him from all sins.  By doing Putrada Ekadashi, children get happiness.

 Aja and Parivartini Ekadashi come in Bhadrapada.  On Aja Ekadashi, there is no trouble on the son, poverty is removed, everything that is lost is regained.  By observing the fast of Parivartini Ekadashi, one gets freedom from all sorrows.

 Indira and Papankusha Ekadashi come in the month of Ashwin.  The fast of Indira Ekadashi, which frees the ancestors from degradation, leads to heaven while Papankusha Ekadashi frees one from all sins and gives immense wealth, prosperity and happiness.

 Rama and Prabodhini Ekadashi fall in Kartik.  By observing Rama Ekadashi fast, one gets all the happiness and opulence.  By observing the fast of Devuthani or Prabodhini Ekadashi, luck awakens.  Tulsi Puja is performed on this day.

 Utpanna and Mokshada Ekadashi come in Margashirsha.  By observing Utpanna Ekadashi fast, one gets the fruits of thousand Vajpeya and Ashwamedha Yagya.  Due to this the gods and ancestors are satisfied.  Mokshada Ekadashi is the one who gives salvation.

 Saphala and Putrada Ekadashi come in Paush.  Saphala Ekadashi is successful.  By observing a successful fast, the fruit of Ashwamedha Yagya is obtained.  Putrada Ekadashi should be fasted for the attainment of a son.

 Shatila and Jaya Ekadashi come in Magh.  By observing Shatila Ekadashi fast, one attains salvation by getting rid of misfortune, poverty and many kinds of sufferings.  By observing Jaya Ekadashi fast, a person gets salvation from the sins of brahmahatyadi and does not go into the forms of ghosts, vampires etc.

 Vijaya and Amalaki Ekadashi falls in Falgun.  On Vijaya Ekadashi, a person gets rid of terrible troubles and enemies are destroyed by it.  Amla is important in Amalaki Ekadashi.  By doing this, a person becomes free from all kinds of diseases, as well as he becomes successful in every work.

 Padmini (Kamala) and Parama Ekadashi come in the month of Adhikmas.  The fast of Padmini Ekadashi fulfills all kinds of wishes, as well as it is the giver of son, fame and salvation.  Parama Ekadashi gives wealth and splendor and destroys sins and also gives good speed.

 Which is the biggest Ekadashi?

 Nirjala Ekadashi is a Hindu holy day that falls on the 11th lunar day (Ekadashi) of the waxing fortnight of the Hindu month Jyeshtha (May/June).  The name of this Ekadashi is derived from the Nirjala fast observed on this day.  It is considered to be the most austere and therefore the most sacred of all the 24 Ekadashis.

 Significance of Papankusha Ekadashi:

 Arjuna started saying that O Jagdishwar!  I heard the detailed description of 'Ashwin Krishna Ekadashi' i.e. 'Indira Ekadashi'.  Now please kindly tell me about Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin/Kwar month also.  What is the name of this Ekadashi and what is the law for its fast?  What is the result of observing this fast?  Please say all this lawfully.

 Lord Krishna said: O Kuntinandan!  The name of Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month is Papankusha Ekadashi.  By observing this fast, all the sins are destroyed and the person who observes the fast becomes a partaker of inexhaustible virtue.

 Lord Vishnu should be worshiped on the day of Ashwin Shukla Ekadashi to get the desired results.  Through this worship a person attains heaven.  O Arjuna!  Those who attain fruit by doing hard penances, get that fruit on this Ekadashi day by offering salutations to Lord Vishnu, who sleeps on Sheshnag in Kshir-Sagar, and one does not have to suffer the miseries of Yama.

 One should make a determination to avoid sins.  Meditation-remembrance of Lord Vishnu in any form is soothing and sinful, but on the day of Papankusha Ekadashi, chanting the remembrance of Lord Vishnu quenches all sorrows and sins.

 Papankusha Ekadashi fasting story!

 In ancient times there lived a fowler named Krodhan on Vindhya mountain, he was very cruel.  His whole life was spent in sinful acts of violence, looting, drinking and wrong association.

 When his last time came, the messengers of Yamraj came to take the fowler and the eunuch said to the fowler that tomorrow is the last day of your life, we will come to pick you up tomorrow.  Hearing this, Fowler became very frightened and reached Maharishi Angira's hermitage and fell at the feet of Maharishi Angira and started praying, O sage!  I have committed sins all my life.

 Please tell me some such remedy, by which all my sins can be erased and salvation can be attained.  On his request, Maharishi Angira asked him to observe fast on Papankusha Ekadashi of Ashwin Shukla.

 According to Maharishi Angira, the fowler performed this fast and got rid of all the sins committed and by the power of worshiping this fast, by the grace of God, he went to Vishnu Lok.  When the eunuch of Yamraj saw this miracle, he returned to Yamlok without taking the fowler.
