अमावस्या : वर्ष के मान से उत्तरायण में और माह के मान से शुक्ल पक्ष में देव आत्माएं सक्रिय रहती हैं तो दक्षिणायन और कृष्ण पक्ष में दैत्य आत्माएं ज्यादा सक्रिय रहती हैं। जब दानवी आत्माएं ज्यादा सक्रिय रहती हैं, तब मनुष्यों में भी दानवी प्रवृत्ति का असर बढ़ जाता है इसीलिए उक्त दिनों के महत्वपूर्ण दिन में व्यक्ति के मन-मस्तिष्क को धर्म की ओर मोड़ दिया जाता है।

अमा‍वस्या के दिन भूत-प्रेत, पितृ, पिशाच, निशाचर जीव-जंतु और दैत्य ज्यादा सक्रिय और उन्मुक्त रहते हैं। ऐसे दिन की प्रकृति को जानकर विशेष सावधानी रखनी चाहिए। प्रेत के शरीर की रचना में 25 प्रतिशत फिजिकल एटम और 75 प्रतिशत ईथरिक एटम होता है।

इसी प्रकार पितृ शरीर के निर्माण में 25 प्रतिशत ईथरिक एटम और 75 प्रतिशत एस्ट्रल एटम होता है। अगर ईथरिक एटम सघन हो जाए तो प्रेतों का छायाचित्र लिया जा सकता है और इसी प्रकार यदि एस्ट्रल एटम सघन हो जाए तो पितरों का भी छायाचित्र लिया जा सकता है।

ज्योतिष में चंद्र को मन का देवता माना गया है। अमावस्या के दिन चंद्रमा दिखाई नहीं देता। ऐसे में जो लोग अति भावुक होते हैं, उन पर इस बात का सर्वाधिक प्रभाव पड़ता है। लड़कियां मन से बहुत ही भावुक होती हैं। इस दिन चंद्रमा नहीं दिखाई देता तो ऐसे में हमारे शरीर में हलचल अधिक बढ़ जाती है। जो व्यक्ति नकारात्मक सोच वाला होता है उसे नकारात्मक शक्ति अपने प्रभाव में ले लेती है।

धर्मग्रंथों में चंद्रमा की 16वीं कला को 'अमा' कहा गया है। चंद्रमंडल की 'अमा' नाम की महाकला है जिसमें चंद्रमा की 16 कलाओं की शक्ति शामिल है। शास्त्रों में अमा के अनेक नाम आए हैं, जैसे अमावस्या, सूर्य-चंद्र संगम, पंचदशी, अमावसी, अमावासी या अमामासी। 

अमावस्या के दिन चंद्र नहीं दिखाई देता अर्थात जिसका क्षय और उदय नहीं होता है उसे अमावस्या कहा गया है, तब इसे 'कुहू अमावस्या' भी कहा जाता है। अमावस्या माह में एक बार ही आती है। शास्त्रों में अमावस्या तिथि का स्वामी पितृदेव को माना जाता है। अमावस्या सूर्य और चंद्र के मिलन का काल है। इस दिन दोनों ही एक ही राशि में रहते हैं।

 मुख्‍य अमावस्या : भौमवती अमावस्या, मौनी अमावस्या, शनि अमावस्या, हरियाली अमावस्या, दिवाली अमावस्या, सोमवती अमावस्या, सर्वपितृ अमावस्या।

चेतावनी : इस दिन किसी भी प्रकार की तामसिक वस्तुओं का सेवन नहीं करना चाहिए। इस दिन शराब आदि नशे से भी दूर रहना चाहिए। इसके शरीर पर ही नहीं, आपके भविष्य पर भी दुष्परिणाम हो सकते हैं। जानकार लोग तो यह कहते हैं कि चौदस, अमावस्या और प्रतिपदा उक्त 3 दिन पवित्र बने रहने में ही भलाई है।

अमावस्या माह में एक बार ही आती है। मतलब यह कि वर्ष में 12 अमावस्याएं होती हैं। शास्त्रों में अमावस्या तिथि का स्वामी पितृदेव को माना जाता है।

प्रमुख अमावस्याएं : सोमवती अमावस्या, भौमवती अमावस्या, मौनी अमावस्या, शनि अमावस्या, हरियाली अमावस्या, दिवाली अमावस्या, सर्वपितृ अमावस्या आदि मुख्‍य अमावस्या होती है।

 

1.सोमवती अमावस्या- सोमवार को पड़ने वाली अमावस्या को सोमवती अमावस्या कहते हैं। इस दिन व्रत रखने से चंद्र का दोष दूर होता है। यह सभी मनोकामना पूर्ण करती है। महिलाओं को विशेष रूप से अपने पति के लंबे जीवन के लिए सोमवती अमावस्या व्रत करना चाहिए।

2.भौमवती अमावस्या- भौम अर्थात मंगल। मंगलवार को पड़ने वाली अमावस्या को भौमवती अमावस्या कहते हैं। इस दिन व्रत रखने से कर्ज का संकट समाप्त होता है।

 3.मौनी अमावस्या- यह अमावस्या हिंदू महीने माघ में आती है। इसे आध्यात्मिक रूप से महत्वपूर्ण दिन माना जाता है।

4.शनि अमावस्या- शनिवार के दिन आने वाली अमावस्या को शनि अमावस्या कहते हैं। इस दिन व्रत रखने से शनि के दोष दूर हो जाते हैं।

5.महालय अमावस्या- महलया अमावस्या को पितृक्ष की सर्वपितृ अमावस्या भी कहते हैं। इस दिन अन्न दान और तर्पण आदि करने से पूर्वजों प्रसन्न होते हैं।

 6.हरियाली अमावस्या- श्रावण माह में हरियाली अमावस्या आती है। इसे महाराष्ट्र में गटारी अमावस्या कहते हैं। तेलंगाना और आंध्र प्रदेश में चुक्कला एवं उड़ीसा में चितलागी अमावस्या कहते हैं। इस दिन पौधा रोपण करने का महत्व है। इस दिन पितरों की शांति हेतु भी अनुष्ठान किए जाते हैं।

7.दिवाली अमावस्या- कार्तिक मास की अमावस्या को दिवाली अमावस्या कहते हैं। इस अमावस्या के समय दीपोत्सव मनाया जाता है। कहते हैं कि इस दिन रात सबसे घनी होती है। मूल रूप से यह अमावस्या माता कालीका से जुड़ी हुई है इसीलिए उनकी पूजा का महत्व है। इस दिन लक्ष्मी पूजा का महत्व भी है। कहते हैं कि दोनों ही देवियों का इसी दिन जन्म हुआ था।

8.कुशग्रहणी अमावस्या- कुश एकत्रित करने के कारण ही इसे कुशग्रहणी अमावस्या कहा जाता है। पौराणिक ग्रंथों में इसे कुशोत्पाटिनी अमावस्या भी कहा गया है। भगवान श्री कृष्ण की आराधना के माह भाद्रपद ही है। इस दिन को पिथौरा अमावस्या भी कहा जाता है। पिथौरा अमावस्या को देवी दुर्गा की पूजा की जाती है।

 

बाकी बची अमावस्याएं दान और स्नान के महत्व की हैं। वह जिस वार को आती है उसी वार के नाम से जानी जाती है। मूलत: इनके नाम 12 माह के नामों पर आधारित भी होते हैं।

अमावस की रात को क्यों कहा जाता है निशाचरी?

जिस तरह हिंदू धर्म में पूर्णिमा का अधिक महत्व है, ठीक उसी तरह अमावस्या तिथि को भी अधिक महत्वपूर्ण माना गया है। जहां एक ओर अमावस्या तिथि के दिन पितर प्रसन्न करने के लिए कई उपाय आदि किए जाते हैं तो वहीं इस रात को कुछ मान्यताओं के अनुसार निशाचरी भी कहा जाता है। पर क्यों? क्योंकि अगर हिंदू धर्म की बात करें तो इसमें तो इस तिथि का अधिक महत्व बताया गया है। तो फिर क्यों इसे निशाचरी कहा जाता है। ठहरिए ठहरिए इससे पहले कि आप सोचने लगे। बता दें हम आपको इससे जुड़ी हर बात बताएंगे। दरअसल कहा जाता है कि कुछ ऐसी खास तिथियां होती हैं जिनका धरती और मानव मन पर गहरा प्रभाव पड़ता है। इन्हीं तिथियों में से एक है अमावस्या तिथि।

कब क्या होता है:

2.Bhumvati Amavasya-Bhum means Mars.  Amavasya falling on Tuesday is called Bhaumvati Amavasya.  By observing a fast on this day, the debt crisis ends.

3. Mauni Amavasya - This Amavasya falls in the Hindu month of Magha.  It is considered a spiritually important day.

4. Shani Amavasya - Amavasya coming on Saturday is called Shani Amavasya.  By observing fast on this day, the defects of Shani are removed.

5. Mahalaya Amavasya – Mahalaya Amavasya is also known as Sarva Pitri Amavasya of Pitruksha.  On this day, the ancestors are pleased by donating food and doing tarpan etc.

6. Hariyali Amavasya - Hariyali Amavasya comes in the month of Shravan.  It is called Gatari Amavasya in Maharashtra.  It is called Chukkala in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and Chitlagi Amavasya in Orissa.  It is important to plant saplings on this day.  Rituals are also performed on this day for the peace of ancestors.

7. Diwali Amavasya - Amavasya of Kartik month is called Diwali Amavasya.  Deepotsav is celebrated during this new moon.  It is said that the night is the thickest on this day.  Basically this new moon is associated with Goddess Kalika, that is why her worship has significance.  There is also importance of Lakshmi Puja on this day.  It is said that both the goddesses were born on this day.

8. Kushgrahani Amavasya - Due to the accumulation of Kush, it is called Kushgrahani Amavasya.  In mythological texts, it is also called Kushotpatini Amavasya.  Bhadrapada is the month of worship of Lord Shri Krishna.  This day is also known as Pithora Amavasya.  Goddess Durga is worshiped on Pithora Amavasya.

The remaining Amavasyas are of the importance of charity and bathing.  The war on which it comes is known as that war.  Basically their names are also based on the names of 12 months.

Why is the night of the new moon called nocturnal?

Just as Purnima has more importance in Hinduism, in the same way Amavasya Tithi is considered more important.  While on the one hand many measures are taken to please the ancestors on the new moon day, on the other hand, this night is also called nocturnal according to some beliefs.  but why?  Because if we talk about Hinduism, then more importance of this date has been told in it.  Then why is it called nocturnal?  Wait before you start thinking.  Let me tell you, we will tell you everything related to this.  Actually it is said that there are some special dates which have a profound effect on the earth and the human mind.  One of these dates is Amavasya Tithi.
